Sagging breasts are the result of aging, pregnancy or dieting too extremely or too fast. Even small breasts can sag problematically, although less visibly than normal or large-sized breasts.

THE PROCEDURE

Once the surgeon has assessed the extent of the sagging, skin condition and size of the breasts, and has discussed with you the desired breast shape and position of the scars, he can determine the type of surgery that best suits your needs and expectations.
For small and sagging breasts, a breast lift is performed and an implant inserted to restore fullness. A scar will result around the nipple but it will be barely visible. You and the surgeon should decide together on the new cup size.
For normal-sized sagging breasts: the surgeon will only restore their shape by removing excess skin. If the sagging is not too critical, the scar will be around the nipple but will be barely visible.
For large-sized sagging breasts: the surgeon will reduce the size of the breasts and correct the sagging. The nipple and areola are raised to the correct position. The scar is normally in the shape of a reversed T. It starts around the areola and extends downwards in a straight line to under the breast and along the lower crease of the breast. The length of the scar depends on the extent of the reduction and the sagging of the breasts.

AFTER SURGERY

After the operation, the breasts are firmly bandaged. The after-effects of surgery are not painful. Then you must wear a firm support bra around the clock for a month. You should avoid any physical exertion during the first 3 weeks.
The nipples and breasts suffer no loss of sensation and, in most cases, breast-feeding is possible after a breast uplift.
After a breast uplift there is a possibility of returning home on the same day or an overnight stay may be necessary.

IN CONCLUSION

The breast shape achieved after surgery is generally fantastic, if performed by an experienced plastic surgeon who endeavours to attain the best possible aesthetic and harmonious results. It is a real joy to be able to wear bras that are not underwired, sexy swimwear and low-cut tops and dresses. The only issue is the scarring. The scars are generally invisible around the areola; horizontal scars in the breast crease are less noticeable than vertical ones - these take some time to fade.
The breast lift is surgery that really makes you feel good about yourself and that brings harmony to body and mind.
