Sometimes the inner thigh requires more than just liposculpture. Fat accumulation is usually accompanied by sagging of the skin, which after liposculpture fails to fully contract. This results in a multitude of tiny wrinkles. This is when a thigh lift is required. There are also cases where women with slim thighs without cellulite have sagging inner thighs. Here, it serves no purpose to perform liposculpture, because it is just a matter of slackening of the skin. Only a lift will solve the problem.
As a thigh lift is a real surgical procedure (with scars), it is only performed on patients who are unable to tone up their skin and muscles by way of gym exercises.
The demand for this procedure is steadily increasing because the inner thigh is one of the first places to show the effects of ageing the skin there is exceptionally supple.
THE PROCEDURE
The surgery is performed under general anaesthetic or neuroleptanalgesia and takes two hours.
The scars are hidden along the natural crease of the groin up to the perineum.
AFTER SURGERY
Both swelling and bruising are common and can last for about 6 weeks. Normal activities can be resumed after about 10 days.
It is normal to experience some difficulty in walking and pain when sitting down during the first 5 days.
A support stocking is worn around the clock for 3 weeks and during the day for the week thereafter.
The end results become visible as from the 4th month. Although they are beautiful, the patient must be aware that in contrast to liposculpture alone, some scarring, although slight, is unavoidable.
Due to the skin quality of the inner thigh, we have to be extremely careful. It is vital not to remove too much fat or skin to retain an evenly rounded shape. Otherwise, the procedure would result in unnaturally straight or bowed upper legs.
