EYELID CORRECTION
(Blepharoplasty)

eyelid correction
under eyelid correction

eyelid correction
upper eyelid correction
The aim of eyelid correction is to give a tired, puffy and withered look a more youthful and happy expression. It is the type of rejuvenation procedure that is first (at about 35 to 40 years) performed because the eyelids usually show the first signs of ageing. (Sometimes, a person may inherit from his parent baggy eyelids. This type of patient responds very well to early intervention). Whether it be to remove bags under the eyes (making someone look continually tired), drooping upper eyelids, or to smooth away wrinkles and sagging skin, the main concern of the surgeon is to correct the imperfections without making any change to the general look. This is vital in reflecting the individual personality of the face and should not be affected in any way. When you know how important the ‘look’ is in the art of seduction, it’s not surprising that this procedure makes you suddenly look so much younger.
Although blepharoplasty is a simple procedure (it can be performed under local anaesthetic), it demands a high level of expertise. The surgeon must be very knowledgeable on the area surrounding the eyes and the eyelids, must be highly competent in the various surgery techniques and must carry out a meticulous pre-operative analysis of the problems to be solved. Although it is possible to operate separately on the upper or lower eyelids, it is often preferable to treat them as a whole to avoid the area that hasn’t been treated looking even older. This can be discussed with your plastic surgeon.

The upper eyelids • THE PROCEDURE The procedure takes 45 minutes to 1 hour and consists of the retightening of the skin by removing a small section of skin in the crease just above the eye and any underlying pockets of fat. The aim is to restore the youthful shape of the eye. The scar will run along the crease of the upper eyelid and be invisible. The procedure takes place under local anaesthetic – allowing you to return home one hour later. • AFTER SURGERY The recovery is straightforward. For 2 to 3 days you will feel some discomfort, the eyes run and you are not able to read. The bruising lasts for at least a week – large sunglasses are therefore very useful.
The results are amazing but will only give their full effect after 2 to 3 months.
The lower eyelids • THE PROCEDURE The surgeon removes the fat deposits via the connective tissue from inside the lower eyelids, without making an incision. Alternatively, an incision is made along the eyelashes that will be barely visible. The surgeon then removes any pockets of fat and very carefully tightens any excess skin. • AFTER SURGERY The results are comparable with those of upper eyelid surgery: discomfort (but no pain), swelling, bruising. Oedema can be prevented by applying a cold mask or compress. After 3 weeks, you will have a good idea of the end result. IN CONCLUSION

Eyelid correction is currently one of the most successful cosmetic procedures. The results are always excellent with an immediate rejuvenating effect. It opens your eyes and brightens your face and gives you a fresh, youthful look. The results are also very long lasting.

Finally, eyelid correction is surgery that makes you feel good about yourself and restores your youthful look.
