TUMMY TUCK

THE PROCEDURE

• Where there is only a layer of excess fat that needs removing, this can be solved by way of liposculpture.

- Liposculpture of the belly is performed under local anaesthetic or sedation and the patient can return home immediately afterwards. The results are excellent.

- Before a tummy tuck, we recommend that the patient loses at least 80% of his or her excess weight; the results of the surgery will be considerably improved.
Liposculpture is generally performed at the start of the procedure, focusing in particular on the area above the navel where the fat has often accumulated and is difficult to remove. To tighten the skin and muscles, an incision is made just above the pubic region. Where moderate tightening is required, the scar is short and situated under the bikini line. Where a higher degree of tightening is required, the scar is longer and the navel is repositioned to avoid it being too low.

AFTER SURGERY

The scar stays pink for the first three months and becomes lighter and smoother after 1 to 3 years.
After surgery, the abdomen can remain swollen for 1 to 2 months. This is why you will have to wear a compression garment or corset for 6 to 8 weeks. After tummy tuck, it's absolutely necessary to spend 2 nights in the hospital before returning to the U.K.
Possible complications are contusions or slow healing of the wound.
After liposculpture, you can resume normal activity after 1 to 2 days. After a tummy tuck, this can be 2 weeks to 1 month.
