A mini face lift is a procedure, currently very much in demand, which is less intrusive and more straightforward than the standard face lift.
With this technique, the oval shape of the face can be restored without loosening the skin layer as much as is done in a face lift. It is important to understand that the skin does age on its own, as the underlying tissue and muscles do too. The aging of the lower and middle part of the face always starts with the slackening of its underlying tissue. A mini face lift addresses this specific area.
Procedure
The surgeon makes an incision above the hairline at the temples, just above the ear. The scars fall just inside and behind the ear, so that the hair can be worn short or off the face. The face is tightened to produce a well-balanced effect and natural rejuvenation.
Sagging cheeks or jowls can also be removed by way of micro-liposculpture in conjunction with the mini face lift.
The length of time for a mini face lift procedure takes an average of more or less two hours.
Your Stay
A mini face lift does not require an overnight stay at the clinic. Thus, it is treated as a day-case. Patients leave the clinic in their own time on the day of the procedure.
Post-op
For the first eight to ten days following a mini face lift, the face is invariably swollen and bruised. However, this disappears relatively quickly. The face regains it’s natural and youthful contour two to three weeks later.
Following surgery, it is quite normal to feel tightening and pulling of the skin around the area treated.
Resuming Daily Activities
Patients may start to apply light make-up (eye make-up, lipstick and foundation) after about ten days following surgery. Patients may resume their daily activities after about fifteen days. Avoid sun exposure for at least two months following the mini face lift.
Results
The final results are fully visible after two to three months.
Although a mini face lift makes patients look five to ten years younger in the space of a couple of hours, it can never completely restore the face once had – this is because it is not only one’s skin and muscles that change with age, but also the bone structure (jaw and cheek bones), which, of course, is not affected by the surgery.
Costs
The price of a mini face lift ranges between £1,650 and £2,150.
