Many young men develop fatty tissue around the chest area during puberty. In approximately 85% of cases this problem subsides with age. However, in 15% of cases, the unwanted fat around the chest does not disappear and often causes problems during adulthood.
Procedure
In the majority of cases, liposuction to the chest is adequate. However, in some cases and depending on the nature of the problem, part of the mammary gland is removed, along with the excess skin
Liposuction starts with the local injection of an anaesthetic fluid and saline solution containing a vasoconstrictor. The three liquids ensure that the procedure is pain-free and without blood loss.
The surgeon then makes tiny incisions (3-4 mm) in the skin through which a narrow tube or cannula is inserted that is connected to a vacuum pump.
Using a to-and-fro motion, the fat is then evenly and precisely removed.
This technique is called Vibrasound Liposculpture.Vibrasound loosens and liquefies the fat using high frequency sound vibration to enable it to be drawn off easily without damaging the surrounding tissue.
Another important advantage is that more fat can be removed from the same area (the former technique only a maximum amount of fat can be removed because of bleeding).
This technique is certified to comply with the highest European safety standards, IS09001 and EN46001 and delivers the best results,
which is why it has become the method of choice at ELYZEAcosmetic surgery.
Anaesthetic
A male chest reduction is carried out under sedation. The patient feels nothing throughout the procedure but is not deeply anaesthetised, as this is the case for other procedures.
Length of Time
A male chest reduction takes an average of one hour.
Your Stay
The procedure does not require an overnight stay at the clinic. Thus, it is treated as a day-case. The patients leave the clinic in their own time on the day of the procedure.
Post-op
After male chest reduction, bruising and swelling may occur but they generally disappear after one week. Slight fatigue may be felt during the first two days following surgery. A compressive bandage must be worn around the chest area for about four weeks.
Resuming Daily Activities
Patients may shower the day after the procedure. However, refrain from taking a bath in the week following surgery until the little stitches have completely dissolved.
We recommend that patients resume their daily activities very soon after surgery. Contrary to other surgical procedures, it is indispensable for the healing process that patients remain physically active. One may return to work a few days after surgery.
Results
The results of the procedure are a much improved and well-defined chest shape. It is a reliable, effective and long-lasting procedure, whereby the final results are fully visible after six months. Male chest reduction is a viable solution to a problem that many men may encounter.
Costs
The price ranges between £1,100 and £1,750.
