For normal-sized sagging breasts: the surgeon will only restore their shape by removing excess skin. If the sagging is not too critical, the scar will be around the nipple but will be barely visible.
For large-sized sagging breasts: the surgeon will reduce the size of the breasts and correct the sagging. The nipple and areola are raised to the correct position. The scar is normally in the shape of a reversed T or anchor-shaped. It starts around the areola and extends downwards in a straight line to under the breast and along the lower crease of the breast. The length of the scar depends on the extent of the reduction and the sagging of the breasts.

Length of time
The length of time for a breast uplift depends on the complexity and scale of the operation. It also depends on whether implants are inserted or not. In most cases, breast uplift procedures take an average of two and a half hours.

Your Stay
Breast uplift does not require an overnight stay at the clinic. Thus, it is treated as a day-case. Patients leave the clinic in their own time on the day of the procedure.

Post-op

After a breast uplift, the breasts are firmly bandaged. The after-effects of surgery are not too painful. Bruising and swelling may occur but gradually disappears over the two to three weeks following surgery.
Patients must wear a firm support bra around the clock for a month and should avoid any physical exertion during the first three weeks.
Occasionally the nipples may be a little numb immediately after surgery; however in the long-term the nipples and breasts suffer no loss of sensation and, in most cases, breast-feeding is possible after a breast uplift.

Resuming Daily Activities
We recommend that patients resume their daily and professional activities about ten days following surgery.
During the first days after a breast uplift patients will need to rest well. Do not hesitate to accept help with household chores (even vacuum cleaning should be avoided during the first week). We advise patients to take things very easy, not to lift anything heavy. One will also sleep more comfortably on their back or side. Do avoid sunbathing and in the first year, if patients wish to sunbathe topless, make sure that high factor sun protection is used on the scars.
Patients may start fitness and exercising after one to two months.

Results
The results of a breast uplift are spectacular. The results are immediately visible, even though the final results are fully apparent approximately six months after surgery. The scars gradually fade with time and become fine pale lines that are barely visible.
It becomes a real joy to be able to wear bras that are not underwired, revealing swimwear and low-cut tops and dresses.
Breast uplifts are extremely reliable procedures. They increase women's confidence, boosts their self-esteem and makes them feel far more attractive.
Even though the results are relatively long lasting, patients must bear in mind that gravity, the quality of the skin, weight fluctuations, pregnancy and aging may affect the results in the long-term.
